POTD: More socialist realism in Pyongyang

This is a statue of a worker, peasant, and intellectual in front of the Tower of Juche Idea in Pyongyang, North Korea. I found this statue to be quite similar to Vera Mukhina’s “Worker and Kolkhoz Woman” statue in Moscow.

I find the inclusion of the intellectual rather interesting though, don’t you. Counter to the core of Communism in practice, and Socialist Realism in general. Can you think of any other significant pieces of SR art that include intellectuals? Is this a DPRK thing?

Interesting question. Off the top of my head, all I can think of are monuments to scientists (i.e, space monument in Moscow), but I doubt the communists would have considered them to be “intellectuals”.
