I usually don’t post any positive GW-related news (except for snow days and the like) because there honestly isn’t any good news about GW. Anyways, here’s some good news about GW from this month’s GW Magazine (you know, the glossy magazine that the university sends our parents):
In a recent article by Professor Simon Hix of the London School of Economics and Political Science, GW was named 14th in a “Global Ranking of Political Science Departments.” GW’s political prowess came in just after top names like Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, and Oxford, and above other top names like Duke, Northwestern, Cornell, and Johns Hopkins.
Yay, GW. We rock in PoliSci…not sure how we place in non-political majors. Not that well, I’m guessing.
And now, back to the negative. The esteemed residents of Foggy Bottom are trying to block a proposal to allow 7-11 to operate 24 hours a day. How great would that be? Mountain Dew Slurpees whenever you feel like it! Alas, the FB residents have to ruin everything! They sideline any proposal that even hints at somehow making GW students a little happier. So it goes…
In other news, the University Police Department is considering buying drug-sniffing and bomb-sniffing dogs. Yay, another useless thing to waste money on. I have a better idea…I’ll let UPD use my incredibly intelligent yellow lab, Katie, in exchange for free tutition. She does not have any bomb or drug detection capabilities, but GW would probably agree to the deal because they wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to waste tuition money. How about it, Trachtenberg?
