About

I'm an expat Californian who is obsessed with traveling to strange and exotic destinations in the former Communist Bloc. I also like tacos, beer, surfing, trapshooting, and the geopolitics of oil. I currently live in Arlington, Virginia and work in Washington, DC. Read more about me here, check out my photo album, or send me an e-mail.

The long awaited Summer is finally here!

School is FINALLY out. No more Astronomy (aka hell) or reading thousands of pages of PoliSci. The downside, though, is that I’m in the desert, which is about the same temperature as hell.

Saw the Angels beat Kansas City a few weeks ago. But what’s even more amazing is that the Angels are second in the AL West…who woulda thought? Just you watch, though…by the time the Angels pass Seattle and become #1 in the AL West the players will go on STRIKE!

On June 26, I leave for Russia…yes, Russia. I’ll be taking some classes at St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University. The program is through AIFS and should be pretty sweet. I’ll be back August 6. Maybe I’ll even have this site finished before I go back to DC on August 30.

    5. Finally tried Thai X-ing A few months ago, Margaret mentioned to Tina and I that there was a supposedly delicious Thai restaurant in her neighborhood. Thai X-ing, however, is not your typical Thai restaurant. It’s run out of a rowhouse basement in Shaw, has one table that seats four, and all of the...
